"Teacher of the Year" Award
For eighty-three years, the Dallas Lawyers Auxiliary has been active in its support of public education, citizenship awareness and various service programs. Recognizing the vital role that teachers play in law-related education, the Auxiliary is sponsoring its first "Teacher of the Year" Award. THE PURPOSE OF THIS AWARD : To honor Dallas County public and private high school teachers who have made significant contributions in the area of law-related education, and have developed programs that have:
- Furthered the understanding of the role of the courts, law enforcement agencies and the legal profession
- Helped students recognize their responsibilities as well as their rights
- Encouraged effective law-related education programs in their schools and communities
- Increased communication among students, educators and those involved professionally in the legal system
NOMINATIONS : Nominations for the "Teacher of the Year Award" may be made by teachers and/or principals. A teacher may nominate himself/herself. The Nominee must be teaching in a public or private high school within Dallas County. Next Entry Deadline: April 2, 2009 AWARD: The teacher selected will receive a $1,000 award to be presented at the meeting of the Dallas Lawyers Auxiliary at the Park Cities Club on May 13, 2009.
